NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025

This year, I competed solo with a children’s book. I took on the challenge of Stellar Stories: Space Weather Through the Eyes of Earthlings. Much to my surprise and delight, I was awarded Second Place which came with a fabulous trophy and $500. One of the great things about writing a children’s book is that everyone there could understand the project and its purpose. I am deeply thankful for the the opportunity to be challenged and create a work under a short time constraint. This hackathon started officially at 9am yesterday morning with presentation today at 4pm. 31 hours. I did the majority of my work putting it all together today and was finished by 2pm with everything uploaded. Yes, I used AI tools to assist me with my story, but it’s not magic. It can only do what you tell it to do.

Thank you to everyone at the Tampa Hackerspace, NASA, and Hillsborough County’s EDi2 program for an outstanding event!

I used several AI tools in the creation of this entry as well as images provided by NASA.

This story is about a young photographer named Aurora and her excitement over space weather. It includes a glossary at the end with space weather terms including images from NASA.

Enjoy!
